If you need more time to file your taxes you may file for an extension that is valid for six months. Please keep in mind that filing an extension will only waive the failure to file on time penalty.
If you owe taxes you may still be subject to interest and additional penalties if you do not make a payment or payment arrangements by April 15th. You must file separate extensions for the IRS and the state that you are filing for.
EXTENSIONS MUST BE POSTMARKED BY APRIL 15TH. YOU MUST FILE BOTH THE FEDERAL(IRS) EXTENSION AND AN EXTENSION REQUEST FOR THE STATE YOU FILE IN AS WELL. IF YOUR STATE IS NOT LISTED PLEASE REFER TO THAT STATES WEBSITE FOR ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS
